Risk Benefit Assessment in Action
Why is it important for children to take risks in their play?
Children would never learn to walk, climb stairs or ride a bicycle unless they were strongly motivated to respond to challenges involving a risk of injury.
Play Safety Forum
In 2008, Play England published Managing Risk in Play Provision: Implementation Guide. The Guide sets out a new approach of Risk Benefit Assessment whereby play providers weigh, with equal consideration, the duty to protect children from avoidable serious harm and the duty to provide them with stimulating, adventurous play opportunities.
