Hackney Play Association is willing and able to offer qualifications at all levels subject to demand.
We are also able to offer short courses on specific topics, team and organisational training sessions for affordable prices. Forest School skills, including using woodworking tools, shelter-building, knots, lashing, log splitting, whittling. A practical outdoor session (all tools provided for your use on the day) Tuesday 12th February – 1 day (9.30-2.30)
Inspecting your adventure playground delivered by Rob Wheway (Please note spaces limited, book soon) A practical course for playworkers and those who need to inspect adventure playgrounds, common problems, the law and standards, forms and recording systems etc. Tuesday 26th of February and also running again on the 28th February – 1 day (9.30-2.30)
Presentation skills for playworkers – A Train the trainer day for playworkers and those who would like to feel more confident in delivering public speaking, workshop delivery or presentations. Tuesday 5th March – 1 day (9.30-2.30)
PlayWay course – Introduction to playwork, suitable for those new to working in the play sector. University of Gloucestershire. The course requires additional study and a playwork placement (HPA can provide) Monday 11th & 12th March – 2 days (9.30-3.00)
Paediatric First Aid Course – Certificate lasts 3 years) meets OfSted requirements. Monday 18th & Tuesday 19th March 2019 – 2 Days (9.30-2.30 both days)
Behaviour and Conflict Management Course – An introduction to managing unwanted behaviour on the play setting and considering a number of de-escalation techniques. Legal aspects and levels of intervention will be highlighted. Tuesday 26th March 2019 – 1 Day (9.30-2.30)
Level 2 in Safeguarding Children and Young people – To become familiar with your legal obligations regarding safeguarding children and young people in the play setting. Tuesday 2nd April 2019 – 1 Day (9.30-2.30)
